Olaf Hat Designed by Sandra Manson for Jamieson & Smith, this kit contains the pattern and yarn to knit the Olaf Hat, a striking Fair Isle hat featuring a Norwegian Star and snowflake crown, combining our Shetland and Scandinavian influences. Its made using 2 shades of our 5ply Shetland.

Materials Jamieson & Smith 5ply Shetland (100% Real Shetland Wool; 115m/125yds, 50g)
Yarn A: Natural Grey Yarn B: Dark Navy

You will also need:

Needles and Notions
2.5mm needles for rib (DPNS or 40cm circular)
3.0mm needles (DPNS or 40cm circular)
3.0mm DPNs for crown
Stitch markers

Finished measurements: One size, to fit a medium/large adult head. Finished circumference: 58.5cm/23in Length from crown to brim: 23cm/9in

Tension 32 sts x 32 rows = 10cm/4î over pattern, blocked using 3.0mm needles

    Olaf hat

    I’ve only just started on this hat but already love the look and feel of how it’s knitting up

    I’ve never used the 5 ply worsted yarn before but love the feel of it and the colours available

    The pattern is really good quality and so much nicer than a PDF pattern

    My only negative comment ( which is probably due to printing) is that it is very hard to see the symbol for decreasing in the navy box

    The symbol has been done in black and maybe would be better in white to make it visible

    Other than than I love both the pattern , yarn and brilliant service
