Paper pattern for the Silver Darlings Beanie designed by Outi Kater. Herring, which once was called the ësilver darlingí in English speaking fishing communities, has for hundreds of years provided a source of livelihood for the coastal communities from the Baltic Sea to the Atlantic Ocean and beyond. In Silver Darlings Beanie, which celebrates this humble fish, nineteen stylized herrings swim in the sea that ripples in jewel colours of teal, green and blue, coming together at a 16 point compass rose at the top.
You will also need:
2.5mm (UK12-13/US1-2) and 3mm (UK11/US2-3) short DPNs, sets of five and a 3mm circular needle, 60-80cm long, or your preferred needles for working small diameters in the round, or size required to obtain tension.
